Volunteers from the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society launched the 2023 incarnation of βAustralia to Cuba with loveβ on June 3 in the Botanical Gardens.
Campaigners aim to help end the US blockade of Cuba and to raise money for medical equipment in Cuba by walking, cycling, dancing or running 14,886 kilometres β the distance between Australia and Cuba over eight weeks.
Supporters can pledge money or sign up to participate .
Last year, more than 60 people helped raise more than $25,000 for medical equipment.
βThe reasons for a second round of the campaign are just as compelling,β the website explained. βIn 2023 the people of Cuba continue in their relentless struggle to assert their sovereignty in the face of the inhumane blockade imposed by their powerful neighbour.β
