Why

Some stories must be told. Some voices must be heard.

From the shores of Gaza to the big screen,ÌýGaza NippersÌý- Hope Amid DevastationÌýis a powerful and deeply moving documentary directed by Majed Badra, revealing the resilience, hope and heartbreak of Gaza’s children.

Two young men from Gaza were brought to Australia in 2019Ìýby the Northern Beaches Committee for Palestine to train as surf lifesavers at North Steyne Surf Life Saving Club in Manly. On their return to Gaza, they set up a Nippers programme along Australian lines for Gaza’s children and drew up plans to build the first surf lifesaving club in the Middle East. But after one successful season, several of these children and supporting adults have been killed in Israel’s bombardment.

Gaza Nippers - Hope Amid DevastationÌýreveals the heartbreaking yet inspiring story of children in Gaza growing up under siege and wars inflicted on them by Israel. The Nippers programme offers a lifeline, teaching children to swim, surf and find moments of joy. Amid the horrors of genocide in Gaza, the film highlights the shocking loss of young lives in the programme.

Growing up under siege, these young surf lifesavers find freedom and joy in the waves - even as they face unimaginable loss. Through their eyes, we witness a Gaza rarely seen: full of courage, community and the enduring spirit of childhood.

This is more than a film - it’s a call to listen, to witness and to stand in

Light refreshments will be served.

Money raised will support children and their families in Gaza.
