For 20 years ΒιΆΉΣ³»­ Weekly has been bringing you the news that the mainstream media won’t. Australia has the most concentrated media ownership in the Western world β€” and it’s getting worse.

Mining baron and Australia’s richest person, Gina Rinehart, has a growing stake in Channel Ten and now Fairfax, demanding editorial influence. At the same time, 1900 jobs are being axed from the company.

As the 1% increase their hold on corporate media, it’s crucial we broaden the reach of alternative media for the 99%. To further challenge the mainstream media .

It’s an online channel that can bring coverage of the issues and campaigns you care about, independent of the Rineharts and Murdochs, the Andrew Bolts and Miranda Divines.

Good morning Comrades: Forgive me for the late notice but please consider the following and if possible can someone from GLTV or ARCTV or both be at my place today (Thursday) between 0900 and 0930 to get footage on what I am writing to you about.. I refer to my conversation with Rachel Evans last Saturday (before and after the GLTV launch) about my NSW Housing concerns, particularly the corroded guttering in the Terrace, 74-80 High Street Millers Point, which has been reported, complained about and waiting for repairs or replacement for over 20 years, by generations of residents during that time.. and how since February when I took up occupancy as a tenant of NSW Housing (after waiting for 26 years in private rental accommodation) I have been asking NSW Housing to fix the guttering, rainwater down piping and instal water taps. In May I wrote to Pru Goward, the Minister responsible for Housing and also to her Ministerial and Parliamentary colleagues, Victor Dominello, Barbara Perry, Adam Searle and my local member, Clover Moore. All except Goward and Dominello have been in touch. Clover was on the job straight away and has been in touch with the NSW Housing Area Director for Millers Point; and 4 of the 5 concerns I raised have been attended to satisfactorily.. The Assets Team, NSW Housing was supposed to have inspected and completed the work re the remaining concern which is still outstanding and entailed in repairing or replacing guttering, rainwater downpipes and the installation of water taps by 4 July 2012.. but didn't. I received a call late yesterday from Leichhardt Plumbing saying they were coming to "look at the guttering" today.. and I made an appointment with them for between 0900 and 0930 to be at #78. I have just written notes to each of the other 7 neighbours in the Terrace, letting them know and inviting them to be here. I understand that the Plumbers have another NSW Housing property in Millers Point to "look at". I don't have the details, but as discussed with Rachel, this would be a good current issue for GL and SA to film and report in the lead in to the up-coming Council Elections. I have sent a text to Rachel and will follow up at a more civil hour, before the Plumber's appointment, today.. in the hope that what I propose can happen.
